Boston Todd finished the 2025 season with 48 receptions for 1,100 yards and 18 receiving touchdowns. He added 447 rushing yards on 40 carries with 6 more scores. Twenty-four total touchdowns. 1,547 combined yards. He plays for Martinsburg, the top program in West Virginia.

He is ranked #2 in the West Virginia 2027 class.

He has one FCS offer (Morgan State, extended May 1, 2026) and zero FBS offers.

Why the Gap Exists

Recruiting services concentrate evaluations where pipelines already exist. West Virginia does not have the population base or media infrastructure of Texas or Georgia. Scouts arrive late, if at all. By the time anyone makes the drive to Martinsburg, the window has usually already closed for the players who needed early attention.

Todd is a sophomore-to-junior jump player. The 2024 production was already strong: 30 receptions, 542 yards, 9 touchdowns. The 2025 season was a different level entirely. More targets, more efficiency, more touchdowns. That trajectory, in a system clearly built around him as the primary weapon, is exactly the signal most evaluation tools miss.

Morgan State Saw It First

Morgan State (MEAC, FCS) extended the first scholarship offer on May 1, 2026. That is a real evaluation by a real staff. It is also a useful test of the FBS market: if an FCS program in the MEAC sees a 2027 Power conference body of work and pulls the trigger, the question is why the Group of Five hasn't followed.

The answer is the same as the gap explanation above. Production in West Virginia gets discounted. A film cutup gets opened, the location on the bio gets noted, and the evaluation gets parked behind a Texas slot receiver with three offers already on the board. That bias is the opportunity.

The Market Misread

Offers follow publicity. Publicity follows rankings. Rankings follow existing commitments from the same school and geography. Martinsburg does not check those boxes on the national map, even though it is one of the more competitive programs in the region.

That gap is the blind spot. Todd is one of a small number of 2027 players nationally with this level of production and no FBS interest at all. Morgan State sees what FBS misses. The number of staffs sitting on this tape with no offer extended is not large, and it is shrinking.
