Three boards, one state

Virginia opens its 2026 season this week. Recruit Intel built three verified boards for the state: the best player at every position, the recruits holding real Division 1 offers with no star rating anywhere, and the programs producing the most offers. Every number below comes from our canonical database and is stated with the sample it rests on. Player figures were re-verified against the current roster on 2026-08-20.

The best at every position

One player per position slot, classes 2027 through 2029. These ten hold 300 verified Division 1 offers between them. Offer counts are distinct college offers per player.

  • QB, Charles Scott, Huguenot (Richmond), class of 2028. Committed to Alabama, 21 verified offers. Threw for 3,594 yards and 41 touchdowns against 4 interceptions and ran for 115 yards and 8 more over 13 games in 2025.
  • RB, Marquece Sharpe, Loudoun Sports Academy (Leesburg), class of 2028. 16 verified offers. Ran for 1,073 yards and 15 touchdowns and caught 33 passes for 630 yards and 5 more over 13 games in 2025.
  • WR, Iveon Lewis, Huguenot (Richmond), class of 2027. Committed to South Carolina, 42 verified offers. Caught 42 passes for 1,046 yards and 12 touchdowns over 11 games in 2025.
  • TE, Sam Faniel, Benedictine (Richmond), class of 2027. Committed to Virginia Tech, 30 verified offers. Caught 26 passes for 347 yards and 7 touchdowns over 12 games in 2025.
  • OL, Carter Jones, Poquoson (Poquoson), class of 2027. Committed to Clemson, 57 verified offers, the most of any player on this board.
  • DL, Chris Whitehead, Lloyd C. Bird (Chesterfield), class of 2027. Committed to LSU, 39 verified offers. Recorded 54 tackles, 23 for loss and 10.5 sacks over 12 games in 2025.
  • LB, Alijah Paige, Hermitage (Richmond), class of 2027. 12 verified offers. Recorded 107 tackles and 4 interceptions over 13 games in 2025.
  • CB, Matt Williams, Maury (Norfolk), class of 2027. Committed to Vanderbilt, 25 verified offers.
  • S, Kenaz Sullivan, The St. James (Springfield), class of 2027. Committed to Maryland, 42 verified offers. Caught 32 passes for 808 yards and 7 touchdowns, ran for 200 yards and 4 more, and added 85 tackles and 4 interceptions over 13 games in 2025.
  • ATH, Jhalil Anderson, Loudoun Sports Academy (Leesburg), class of 2027. Committed to East Carolina, 16 verified offers.

Carter Jones anchors the board. His 57 offers are the most of any player here and he is committed to Clemson. Chris Whitehead is the highest-rated name, a five-star LSU commit who put up 23 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks in 2025, and Charles Scott threw 41 touchdowns as an Alabama quarterback commit. Huguenot places two players on the board on its own, Scott at quarterback and Iveon Lewis at receiver.

The recruits the rankings have not caught

Class 2028, real Division 1 offers, and zero stars across 247Sports, On3, Rivals and ESPN as of 2026-08-20. These nine hold 108 verified offers between them, and we did not pad the board.

It is a ratings gap, not a discovery claim: the programs recruiting these players found them long before we listed them. When the services get to them, this dated page is the receipt.

The programs producing the offers

Recruit Intel ranked the state's top 10 high schools by offer production across the 2023 through 2026 classes, the sum of verified Division 1 offers held by their recent recruits. Across these 10 schools sit 76 recruits holding 754 offers between them.

  10. Manchester (Midlothian): 48 offers across 6 recruits

Maury leads the state at 133 offers across 12 recruits, with Green Run and Trinity Episcopal tied right behind at 105 each. The board runs from Hampton Roads through Richmond and up into Northern Virginia, a reminder that the state's Division 1 pipeline is not one metro.

How we counted

Every number here comes from the Recruit Intel canonical database. Offer counts are distinct college offers per player rather than raw offer rows. Production lines are season totals from game level box scores, and each one states the number of games it covers. At the offensive and defensive line slots, and at any slot whose 2027 through 2029 pool carried no recorded box-score production, the board ranks on verified offer volume alone rather than a production blend.

Star status was re-derived live from all five rating columns at 247Sports, On3, Rivals and ESPN, and every player on the unrated board returned zero at all five services. One name from the original build, the top recruit on the unrated board, has since been given a three-star grade by 247Sports and was removed: a board of players carrying no rating anywhere cannot hold a rated player, so it stands at nine. One offer figure is pinned to its 2026-08-20 snapshot: Tyrone Miller Jr. has since accrued one more offer, live at seventeen, and the board keeps the snapshot value so its total reconciles to the card a fan sees. Candidates whose entire offer list came from a single source inside a two day window with no corroboration were routed out before the boards were set, and a duplicate record of one Huguenot recruit was caught by hand and filtered out. Every named player was re-verified against the current roster on 2026-08-20 and pinned to a single database record by id, because a common name can return many separate records across the country.
