Three boards, one region

SoCal opens its 2026 season this week. Recruit Intel built three verified boards for the region: the best player at nine positions, the recruits holding real offers with no star rating anywhere, and the programs producing the most Division 1 offers. Every number below comes from our canonical database and is stated with the sample it rests on. SoCal here means the 512 California schools tagged to the SoCal sub-region, from the San Fernando Valley and the South Bay out to the Inland Empire.

The best at every position

One player per position slot, classes 2027 through 2029. These nine hold 234 verified Division 1 offers between them. Offer counts are distinct college offers, re-verified against the current roster on 2026-08-15. The defensive line slot is held this week: its leading candidate carries a contested school attribution in our data, and our rule is to hold a slot rather than print a school we cannot stand behind.

  • QB, Caden Jones, Crean Lutheran (Irvine), class of 2027. Committed to Arizona, 52 verified offers, the most of any player on this board.
  • RB, Jerome Smith, Upland (Upland), class of 2027. Committed to Miami (OH), 8 verified offers. Caught 50 passes for 801 yards and 5 touchdowns and added 211 rushing yards over 11 games in 2025.
  • WR, Blake Wong, Norco (Norco), class of 2027. Committed to BYU, 16 verified offers. Caught 84 passes for 1,470 yards and 20 touchdowns over 10 games in 2025.
  • TE, Charles Davis III, Westlake (Westlake Village), class of 2027. Committed to California, 29 verified offers. Caught 30 passes for 526 yards and 11 touchdowns over 11 games in 2025.
  • OL, Austin Attalah, Cajon (San Bernardino), class of 2028. 39 verified offers. Offensive linemen are ranked on offer volume, since they do not accumulate box-score stats.
  • LB, Isaiah Phelps, Pacifica (Oxnard), class of 2027. Committed to San Diego State, 25 verified offers. Recorded 23 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks over 15 games in 2025, and ran for 979 yards as a two-way player.
  • CB, Jordan Hicks, Mission Viejo (Mission Viejo), class of 2028. 38 verified offers.
  • S, Jaden Walk-Green, Centennial (Corona), class of 2027. Committed to Washington, 24 verified offers.
  • ATH, Jorden Wells, Servite (Anaheim), class of 2028. 3 verified offers. He makes the board on production, not offers: 405 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns plus 16 catches over 10 games in 2025.

Two names stand out. Caden Jones is a 2027 quarterback already committed to Arizona with 52 offers in hand. Blake Wong put up 1,470 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns in a 10 game season, the single most productive line on the board.

The recruits the rankings have not caught

These ten hold 148 verified Division 1 offers between them and carry zero stars on 247Sports, On3, Rivals and ESPN as of 2026-08-15. That is the whole claim. It is a ratings gap, not a discovery claim: the programs recruiting these players found them first. Eight of the ten are in the 2029 class, which the services have not yet rated, so a large offer sheet with no star is an unrated freshman rather than a stale rating.

Stephan Harrison is the clearest case. He is a 2029 defensive lineman at Sierra Canyon holding 22 offers, with USC, Ohio State and Notre Dame among them, and not one service has assigned him a star rating yet.

The programs producing the offers

Recruit Intel ranked the region's top 10 high schools by offers produced across their 2023 through 2026 classes. Across those 10 schools sit 239 recruits holding 1,971 Division 1 offers between them, an average of about 8 offers per recruited player. This board measures recent output, the offers earned by each program's most recent four classes.

  2. St. John Bosco (Bellflower): 276 offers across 44 recruits
  3. Oaks Christian (Westlake Village): 223 offers across 22 recruits
  4. Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth): 213 offers across 28 recruits
  5. Centennial (Corona): 211 offers across 28 recruits
  6. Rancho Cucamonga (Rancho Cucamonga): 175 offers across 22 recruits
  7. Mission Viejo (Mission Viejo): 157 offers across 20 recruits
  8. Millikan (Long Beach): 120 offers across 14 recruits
  9. Serra (Gardena): 112 offers across 14 recruits
  10. Crean Lutheran (Irvine): 103 offers across 10 recruits

Mater Dei and St. John Bosco lead the region, the two national programs separating from the field, with 381 offers across 37 recruits for Mater Dei and 276 across 44 for St. John Bosco. Crean Lutheran is the efficiency outlier, 103 offers from just 10 recruited players.

How we counted

Every number here comes from the Recruit Intel canonical database. Offer counts are distinct college offers per player rather than raw offer rows. Production lines are season totals from game level box scores, and each one states the number of games it covers, because a per game rate built on a two game sample is not a season. Where a player's only 2025 sample was a game or two, we cite offers alone and no rate.

Every player named on the position board and the unrated board was resolved to a single database record by id before publish, then re-verified against the current roster on 2026-08-15 for class year, school, offer count and star status at all four major services. That last step matters more than it sounds: common names return many separate records, so we never match on a name and school alone. The unrated board rests on a zero being the greatest of five star columns, checked live.

The position board is the best player at each slot across the 2027 through 2029 classes, ranked on a blend of production and offers, with offensive and defensive linemen ranked on offers alone. The defensive line slot is held this week rather than filled with a contested attribution.
